The project aims at complementing and strengthening the Jordanian government’s efforts in enhancing evidence-based policy-making for inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
UNIDO plans to develop an Information System which involves creating an Industrial Observatory to track the performance of the industrial sector, and to strengthen industrial analysis to assess the performance, capabilities and market opportunities of the industrial sector for enhanced industrial policy-making and strategy setting.
The project is also expected to bring tangible results, by boosting youth and women employment (including self-employment), by strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs in promising value chains, through the improvement of relevant BDS, the implementation of upgrading plans for SMEs, and the promotion of investment plans and export consortia.
The project aims to enhanced evidence-based policy-making for inclusive and sustainable industrial development and more tangibly
to increase Jordan’s private-sector contribution to job creation and promote the economic inclusion of youth (Under 30) and women
(including through self-employment) by supporting the development of competitive small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in
selected value chains.
