The Jordanian Industrial Sector plays a pivotal role in the process of economic development to be a strategic partner in achieving the national goals of comprehensive sustainable social and economic development. The Jordanian government plays the main role in empowering the industrial sector, especially entrepreneurs, to be the driving force for the process of economic transformation in Jordan. This will be implemented through the adoption of policies and strategies based on transparency, objectivity and scientific methods.

To develop an information system about the Jordanian Industrial Sector that supports the production of evidence-based industrial and market analyzes, and facilitates comprehensive monitoring of industrial development. The IO was established as a computerized statistical database to track the performance of the industrial sector under the supervision and management of the Economic Policy Directorate (EPD) in the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply (MITS), to align with the following:

• Providing a comprehensive industrial database fed by linking with the various databases of Arabs and International Agencies.
• Enhancing the contribution of the industrial sector in creating jobs and empowering the role of youth and women economically by supporting the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.
• Providing a database that includes many statistics related to the performance of the Jordanian industrial sector at an appropriate level of detail, whether in terms of economic sectors or administrative units.
